Here & There is a weekly-ish email from Kyle Frost about the outdoors, travel, and adventure. If you enjoy, please subscribe/share :)
Hi all, just a quick one this week.
Yesterday, the Outbound Collective released the latest #EveryoneOutside film, âSlim Pickinsâ, featuring Jahmicah and Heather Dawes. Slim Pickins Outfitters is nationâs first Black-owned outdoor gear shop, and this short film tells their incredible story.
Itâs full of inspiration, hope, challenges, and trials. Opening an outdoor gear shop in Stephenville, TX (the âcowboy capital of the worldâ) was a bold statement and the road has not been easy. Like many other small businesses, the pandemic has been a challenging time for the shop and their family. They are in desperate need of capital to dig out of the debt caused by covid, and a GoFundMe has been set up to make sure that Slim Pickins can remain a staple of the Stephenville community.
Take 15 minutes today, learn about their story, and please donate/share if youâre able. I know the Dawes will be eternally grateful.
As always, feel free to reach out with ideas, feedback, or stuff you think I should talk about via email (just hit reply), Instagram, or Twitter.
The best way to support is always to share đ
Cheers,
Kyle
